1. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
4. what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
9. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
11. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
13. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings, and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understand is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
10. "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
13. But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner!"
14. I tell you, this man (tax collector) went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."
After Babylon destroyed Jerusalem, during the trials of rebuilding it and finding & hearing the solemn words of the Law (the Torah - the first 5 books of the bible) for the first time in many generations, Nehemiah spoke & wrote this to his countrymen:
9. ..."This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep."
10. ..."And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
2. Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
3. for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
4. and let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing.
12. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.
23. ...since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
24. for "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers, and the flower falls,
25. but the word of the Lord remains forever."
And this word is the good news (the gospel) that was preached to you.
The Reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
13. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
1. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
6. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you,
7. casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.
8. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
9.Resist him, firm in your faith...
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
14. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
16. For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
17. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
1. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
2. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
3. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
6. Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
10. Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me.
16. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
15. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"
16. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17. and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.
18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
37. Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
38. And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
40. And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."
41. So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
